Paper is used because it is cheap and pleantiful, – images can be made quickly – and disposed of quickly. This “throw-away” facility encourages experimentation and a sense of freedom and abandon.
Various materials are used, including, acrylic, inks, charcoal, pastel and oil paint.

The ‘Encounter series’ represents an on-going way of working for the artist – these are pieces which exist within themselves whilst also serving as “idea pieces” for some of the large ‘oils on canvas’.
The term “Encounter” is used as it signifies a form of meeting between two or more individuals – but it does not clearly indicate the nature of that meeting.
